Chaves, 13 May 2026 (CIM do Alto Tâmega e Barroso) – The Alto Tâmega and Barroso Intermunicipal Community, a partner in the RN21 Integrated Project, highlighted IN.RESIN – Natural Resin Innovation, the project’s final event, held in Chaves and organised by CoLAB ForestWISE with the support of the Municipality of Chaves.

More than 250 participants

The meeting brought together more than 250 participants from Portugal and Spain, from industry, universities, technology centres, public bodies and the forest sector. The first day highlighted the work of resin tappers and included cultural performances by the Forma Dance School and the Chaves Arts Academy. The Secretary of State for Forests, Rui Ladeira, underlined the importance of the project for the future of the sector and for the development of forest territories.

Results and territory

New bio-based products and materials, more sustainable industrial solutions, industrial pilot lines, digital platforms supporting resin tapping and training programmes that brought new professionals into the sector were presented. The Intermunicipal Community links the project to the valorisation of local resources, the promotion of the bioeconomy and the revitalisation of low-density territories.
