Marinha Grande, 23 March 2024 (Jornal de Leiria) – Jornal de Leiria covered the RN21 Integrated Project workshop held at the Edifício da Resinagem in Marinha Grande, where partners across the Natural Resin value chain concluded that joining forces is essential to strengthen the sector.

A cluster to represent the sector

The article highlights the proposal to create a cluster bringing together the sector’s players, able to represent it before the State, provide training and boost competitiveness, helping to sustain traditional resin-related activities.

More than new products

On behalf of CoLAB ForestWISE, the consortium coordinator, Carlos Fonseca challenged the sector to ensure that RN21 leaves a legacy that goes beyond developing new products. The newspaper recalls that the PRR-funded project brings together universities, associations, tapping companies and first- and second-processing industries to modernise the whole chain and make it more sustainable, from forest to end consumer, in a country where only around 500 resin tappers remain.
