Pampilhosa da Serra, 27 January 2025 (Diário de Coimbra) – Diário de Coimbra published the Lusa news agency report on Resinae Ignite, where the resin sector argued that Portugal could double the value generated by the sector.

Better extraction with less effort

With high extraction costs, the RN21 Integrated Project is studying cheaper, more efficient methods, some partially mechanised, that reduce resin tappers’ trips to the forest and the need for labour, while improving resin quality. Marco Ribeiro, from Resipinus, warns that without better pay it will be difficult to attract new professionals.

Training new resin tappers is therefore one of the project’s priorities. The project ends at the end of 2025, with the possibility of an extension.
