Mealhada, 14 March 2024 (Agronegócios) – Agronegócios reported on the meeting of the Steering and Supervisory Board of the RN21 Integrated Project, the consortium’s highest body, held on 28 February at Espaço Inovação Mealhada and hosted by CoLAB ForestWISE.

The session was opened by Mealhada municipal councillor Ricardo Santos, Project Director Rogério Rodrigues and CoLAB ForestWISE CTO Carlos Fonseca, who stressed the importance of sharing the consortium’s work with its partners.

More than 20 measures in three pillars

More than 20 measures were then presented across the project’s three pillars: boosting national Natural Resin production, strengthening the sustainability of the processing industry and positively differentiating Natural Resin and its derivatives. They include Resin Tapper Training and Professionalisation, which provides for an academy to train extraction professionals, the transition to renewables and efficient use of water and energy, and the creation of a seal for Natural Resin.

A project on track

The 2023 Interim Technical Monitoring Report, prepared by the Portuguese Environment Agency, was also reviewed and concluded that the project is on track. The meeting included the first ordinary session of the Advisory Board, made up of Aida Rodrigues Garcia, Álvaro Picardo and Rui Miguel Rosmaninho.
