Figueira da Foz, 10 October 2023 (Visão) – Visão reported, based on the Lusa news agency, on the presentation of the RN21 Integrated Project in Figueira da Foz, where the Minister for the Environment and Climate Action, Duarte Cordeiro, challenged citizens to be more efficient and reduce consumption.

Natural Resin, a bio-based product

The project brings the resin sector in Portugal together for the first time in a consortium that relies on research and innovation to modernise one of the most traditional activities in the national economy and to promote Natural Resin as a bio-based product. For the minister, innovation and sustainability are an essential pairing to meet climate transition targets.

From the forest to industry

Speaking to Lusa, Carlos Fonseca, executive director of CoLAB ForestWISE, explained that RN21 will have an impact on good pine forest management practices, resin harvesting techniques and the genetic improvement of pines, as well as on the modernisation of the first-processing industry and innovation in second processing, with new products for food packaging, paints, cars, adhesives and cosmetics.
