Oleiros, 22 May 2023 (Agroportal) – Agroportal published, based on the Lusa news agency, the trials assessing the viability of resin tapping in a pine stand in the parish of Isna, Oleiros, within the RN21 Integrated Project.

Why Oleiros

Researcher Maria Emília Silva, from UTAD’s Department of Forest Sciences and Landscape Architecture, explains that Oleiros could not be left out of the project, given the experience of those who once worked in resin tapping there and the quality of the municipality’s maritime pine stands.

An activity to revive

Resin tapping was a thriving activity in Oleiros until the early 1980s. The municipality’s vice-mayor, Miguel Marques, sees the trial as an opportunity to generate income for forest owners and improve forest management.
