29 June 2026 (Qualfood) – Qualfood republished the Vida Rural article on the new industrial applications for rosin developed at CeNTI under the RN21 Integrated Project, to replace fossil-based materials with a bio-based resource from Portuguese forests.

Packaging that keeps food fresh for longer

In food packaging, gas-barrier coatings were validated for vacuum-packed meat, and rosin derivatives were encapsulated with antimicrobial and antioxidant agents that can extend shelf life.

From textiles to cars

The derivatives are also being tested in textiles, in footwear soles and adhesives, and in plastics for car interiors, where they replaced up to 30% of synthetic resins while keeping suitable properties.
