Pampilhosa da Serra, 28 January 2025 (Observador) – Observador published the Lusa news agency report on Resinae Ignite, in Pampilhosa da Serra, where Resipinus argued that Portugal could double the value generated by the resin sector.
Pine trees that produce more resin
Pedro Teixeira, from Centro PINUS, presented the launch of a maritime pine genetic improvement programme. Average production is around two kilos of resin per tree, but some trees reach four. If the difference is genetic in origin, seeds and material from these trees could give rise to more productive pine forests within a horizon of about a decade.
