Salvaterra de Magos, 6 December 2024 (Antena Livre) – Antena Livre reported, with the Lusa news agency, on the results of the maritime pine genetic improvement project presented by ICNF in Salvaterra de Magos, aimed at maximising resin production.

From the forest to medicine

Natural Resin is found in medical devices and prostheses, medicines, cosmetics and industrial adhesives. For researcher Paula Soares, from the Instituto Superior de Agronomia, recovering production can create jobs, keep people in rural areas and support local development.

The genetic improvement project took place in the Escaroupim National Forest, coordinated by INIAV in partnership with ICNF, ISA, Centro PINUS and the Faculty of Sciences.
