Salvaterra de Magos, 5 December 2024 (Agroportal) – Agroportal published the Lusa news agency report on the presentation, by ICNF and partner organisations, of the results of a maritime pine genetic improvement project designed to maximise resin production.
Mother trees that make the difference
The trees in the trial were selected for their form and growth. Researchers showed that the offspring of the same productive mother tree also tend to be productive, paving the way for breeding orchards dedicated to resin.
The work was coordinated by INIAV, with ICNF, the Instituto Superior de Agronomia, Centro PINUS and the Faculty of Sciences, in the Escaroupim National Forest, in Salvaterra de Magos.
