Salvaterra de Magos, 6 December 2024 (Jornal de Abrantes) – Jornal de Abrantes published, based on the Lusa news agency, the presentation of the results of the maritime pine genetic improvement project carried out in the Escaroupim National Forest.
Changing the resin tapping rules
A second project seeks to optimise resin production in Portuguese forests and identify the most profitable species. The results should guide future breeding programmes and support proposals to amend the decree-law regulating resin tapping, allowing more efficient techniques than those currently authorised.
The presentation took place at the Cais da Vala Building auditorium in Salvaterra de Magos, with Rui Pombo, from ICNF, and Isabel Carrasquinho, from INIAV.
